Primaries

…. and its a good day for the Republican Party and the people of Georgia.

First off I want to congratulate all my comrades in the 4th. You’ve once again tossed off the yoke of insanity and nominated a candidate that might actually represent some of you. Talk show hosts across the land are in mourning.

As for the RLC, two of our three endorsed candidates won last night. Karen Handel beat Bill “that’s one hell of a limp” Stephens by 14% of the vote. Karen will make an excellent Secretary of State. RLC endorsee Brian Kemp lost his bid to become Georgia’s next Ag. Commissioner. Up in the Canton area, Sean Jerguson beat this opponent by 35 votes.

Nationally, the Republicans did pretty well too. Joe Lieberman’s loss to Ted Lamont indicates a shift in the Democrats power structure to the far left. I consider this good news because the farther left the Democrats go, the more incompetent the Republicans can be and still maintain their majority.

Speaking of incompetent Republicans, Joe Schwarz (R-MI) lost his primary re-election bid to Tim Walberg. Walberg was being backed by my favorite 527, the Club for Growth. And in Colarado, another Club for Growth candidate, Doug Lamborn won his primary and will most likely be the next Congressman from the 5th district.

All of you who got out and voted for Casey, THANK YOU!!!!!!

I’m live blogging election night results over at Jason Pye’s Website

Today is primary day. Don’t forget to vote for

Casey, Karen and Kemp!

A survey by Insider Advantage of 400 likely GOP voters conducted July 10-11,
2006, showed the following:

Cagle – 41 percent
Reed - 36 percent
Undecideds – 23 percent

and you’ve probably already heard this:
Tribe sues Reed, Abramoff

Have you voted yet?

So this morning brought news that Casey out raised his opponent this period by
3:1. Reed had to loan his campaign $500,000 of the ill gotten Abramoff gains.

Then this evening, a new Strategic
Visions poll
put Casey 1 point ahead of Reed (still within the MOE).

One week to go……..

VOTE!

The Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia has endorsed Senator Casey Cagle for Lieutenant Governor.

With our leaders in Washington losing their focus on traditional conservative Republican values - fiscal responsibility, limited government, free enterprise and strong ethics - it is vital that the candidates offered up by the Republican Party in Georgia be true conservatives. The Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia believes that Casey Cagle is such a conservative.

Casey is a successful, self made businessman who was elected to the State Senate in 1994 at the age of 28. He has compiled an impressive legislative record fighting for lower taxes, free markets and private property rights. As Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Casey was a leader in the legislative effort to simplify Georgia’s corporate tax code. He sponsored an income tax cut that passed the Senate in 2006 and has cosponsored legislation that would completely phase the state income tax out of existence. He has voted against every proposed tax increase.

Casey has also been a leader in the fight to curb eminent domain abuse, protect Second Amendment rights and cut wasteful spending. He is a founding member of the Senate Liberty Caucus. He is rated A+ by the National Rifle Association and 100% by the National Federation of Independent Business. He has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

The top two priorities of the Republican Party this year are to keep control of the Governor’s office and to increase our majority in the General Assembly. For the RLC, our pro-liberty agenda depends on these priorities being met. Casey is a man of demonstrated integrity who is free of embarrassing ethical entanglements. He truly is a conservative leader we can trust.

We believe that Casey Cagle is the best candidate for Lieutenant Governor. We believe that he will continue to be a strong defender of liberty as Lieutenant Governor. We endorse his candidacy and urge all RLC members to support his campaign. He may be reached through his campaign office at:

Somewhere I read that a lot of child prodegies grow up to be failures. Apparently
Ralph Reed falls into this campaign. Ralphie just attacked his opponent over his
vote on a bill that the entire republican caucus voted for. ooopsie….

Money quote:

He’s so distracted by this mess and wrapped up with his
own criminal defense that he’s running ads against every Republican State Senator
and the incumbent Republican Governor. That doesn’t seem to make for a good
policy to win on for a primary.
