More evidence of the failure of the Bush Administration: GOP Is Losing Grip On Core Business Vote
When Wall Street is donating to the Democrats you know the GOP has f’ed things up royally.
Some well-known business leaders have openly changed allegiances. Morgan Stanley Chairman and Chief Executive John Mack, formerly a big Bush backer, now supports Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York. John Canning Jr., chairman and chief executive of Madison Dearborn Partners, a large private-equity firm, now donates to Democrats after a lifetime as a Republican. Recently, he told one Democratic Party leader: “The Republican Party left me”
Its not just a few people who have jumped ship, donations are down across the board:
Federal campaign-finance reports document shifting support in some quarters of the business community. Hedge funds last year gave 77% of their contributions in congressional races to Democrats, up from 71% during the 2004 election, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan analyst of campaign finances. Last year the securities industry gave 45% of its money to Republicans, down from 58% in 1996, the center said.

I’m about ready to declare war on the record of the Bush Administration. Fact is they’ve been grossly incompetent and will lead us to another President Clinton. I lopped my first volley over at Peach Pundit:
9/11 was a major changing point for the GOP. Had 9/11 not happened, then there would have been a lot more opposition within GOP ranks to the President’s domestic policies. But with 9/11 we were all hoodwinked into thinking that the “Global War on Terror” was the paramount fight of our generation. Everything else, civil rights, limited government, fiscal responsibility, became secondary.
Well, I’ve got news for you (GOP) folks. Hillary Clinton’s health care proposal will kill more Americans then Saddam’s nukes would have. President Bush, those in his administration who botched the whole effort, the frigtards in congress, and those of us in the GOP who held our tongue and supported him bear responsibility for where we are today.

So says Stephen Moore:
World-wide illiteracy rates have fallen by half since 1970 and now stand at an all-time low of 18%. More people live in free countries than ever before. The average human being today will live 50% longer in 2025 than one born in 1955.
To what do we owe this improvement? Capitalism, according to the U.N. Free trade is rightly recognized as the engine of global prosperity in recent years. In 1981, 40% of the world’s population lived on less than $1 a day. Now that percentage is only 25%, adjusted for inflation. And at current rates of growth, “world poverty will be cut in half between 2000 and 2015″ — which is arguably one of the greatest triumphs in human history.

Now I know why they call themselves Stonewall Democrats. I always figured it had something to do with Stonewall Jackson.

“Lyon Tyler, whom John Tyler sired at the spry young age of 63, went on to continue the family tradition and in 1928, at the age of 75, fathered a child himself. That son, Harrison Tyler (at right, in 2006) is still alive. The grandson of the tenth president of the United States, the grandson of a man born in 1790, is alive today. He currently lives on his grandfather’s estate, Sherwood Forest, in Virginia. And ladies, if you’re interested, he may be looking to continue the family legacy.” From :mental_floss magazine - Where Knowledge Junkies Get Their Fix
